Green Milkweed Locust

The green milkweed locust is an African locust in the family Pyrgomorphidae (gaudy grashoppers). It is about 70mm long at maturity and is capable of long migratory flights. Its hind-wings are bright red and blue, which act as a display of warning colours when disturbed. The locust feeds on highly toxic plants.
