Lofoten is an archipelago and a traditional district of the county of Nordland, Norway. It boasts distinctive scenery with dramatic mountains and peaks, open sea and sheltered bays, beaches, and untouched lands. The archipelago, being above the arctic circle, experiences one of the world's largest elevated temperature anomalies relative to its high latitude, and has no sunrise in the winter and no sunset in the summer.
